Is it possible to apostille Czech documents outside of the Czech Republic?
This question asks if it is possible to get an apostille on documents issued in the Czech Republic without traveling there or sending the documents into the country.
The short answer is no. The Czech Republic does not have embassies or consulates abroad that provide apostille services.
Only state authorities within the Czech Republic can apostille documents issued there. Czech consulates abroad do not apostille Czech documents, as their functions are different.
There are no embassies or consulates authorized to apostille documents outside the Czech Republic. The original documents must be physically sent to the Czech Republic and submitted to the competent state authority. For a detailed list of these authorities, the types of documents they process, and their contact details (address and business hours), please see our website.
We should also clarify that documents issued by Czech consulates cannot be apostilled abroad; they must also be processed within the Czech Republic by the competent state authorities.
On a positive note, the apostille can be obtained by any third party who is physically located in the Czech Republic and has the original document in hand. No power of attorney is required for this procedure.
